St Mary's CE Primary School

Dream. Believe. Achieve.

Year 6

First and foremost, a huge congratulations to all of Year 6 for completing their SATs! You all worked really hard and approached the papers with confidence and enthusiasm and we could not be more proud of you for the effort you put into your learning. Only one more term to go and you will be leaving St. Mary’s and continuing your learning journey at your new high schools.

Year 6 are reading ‘Oliver Twist’ by Charles Dickens. It tells the story of an orphan boy who runs away from the workhouse to find his fortune in London.

In English, we have completed a first-person story with a moral and have been working on polishing our pieces of writing in preparation for writing moderation in June.

In Science our topic is investigating ‘Living things and their habitats’ where we have been learning about classifying vertebrates (animals with backbones) and invertebrates (animals without backbones).

We are looking forward to our last term with year 6 preparing for the end of term events. Exciting times ahead!
