St. Mary's Worship Crew are a friendly and helpful group of KS2 children who are working to inspire and support all of our Collective Worship and Religious Education in school.

This year so far...

Autumn one

At the start of the new school year, our first action was to recruit new members to the Worship Crew to help us to lead and support our collective worship and ensure that we are developing our understanding of Christian values and spirituality in school.

Our newly elected Worship Crew consist of:

Y3 - Riley-Jay, Harrison and Bernice

Y4 - Amber, Max and Kenzie-James

Y5 - Lexi-Mai, Zoya and Matilda

Y6 - Finley and Taliah-Grace

A key focus for the upcoming school year will be building more opportunities for prayer around our school. Each classroom has a reflection area consisting of an age-appropriate bible, LED candles and a collection of prayers. 

Part of the Worship Crew's job, will be helping to lead Collective Worship in classrooms on a Tuesday and Thursday.

Autumn two

This half-term, we have developed a timetable for members of the Worship Crew to lead our whole school in reflection and prayer. This is a big responsibility and involves standing up in front of over 150 people! 

We have also changed the colour of the cloth to symbolise the preparation, waiting and reflection period known as Advent. The Worship Crew have written prayers and read them at the Christmas service held at St Mary and All Saints' Church on Tuesday 17th December 2024.

Spring one

Highlights from last year:

• Collaborated on the new school vision and values and held a coffee morning with parents/carers and governors to decide on the values we needed to prioritise as a school.

• Led drama and teaching during our Easter service in church.

• Began to take responsibility for parts of our shared collective worship.

• Made plans to evaluate and improve our collective worship to meet the needs of the children at our school.
