St Mary's CE Primary School

Dream. Believe. Achieve.

Eco Team

St. Marys Primary School is an officially recognised ECO School and was awarded its Green Flag in June 2013. As an ECO School we are conscious of our need to preserve water and energy. We recycle a lot of our paper and promote regular use of the clothing ‘Bags for Schools Scheme’. We also make compost from the leaves, fruit and vegetable peelings we collect daily in school. Each class helps to look after the school grounds and keep the place tidy with regular litter picking sessions.

We have a very active ECO club which is made up of staff, children and parents who meet every Wednesday after school. The main focus of this term is the regeneration of the quad area within school. This is being done in conjunction with the ‘Biodiversity’ and ‘Healthy Living’ topic areas as outlined in the Eco schools ethos. We will be planting vegetables and fruit alongside creating a Bug Hotel, Butterfly Meadow and Bee City.
